Get ready for a fight: Looks like finding skilled candidates for open positions may get harder as the year goes on.

That’s according to new info from Manpower.

Some results of its eighth annual Talent Shortage Survey:

  • Firms in every state report that they plan on increasing hiring
  • Over 20% of employers expect an increase in employee levels over the next couple of months, and
  • The current jobs outlook is at 12% — the highest it’s been since 2008.

Of course, the downside of an increased hiring outlook is that top performers will be in high demand — whether they’re on the job market or not.

Another relevant Manpower report found some unsettling news: Two out of every three employers reported that other companies are targeting their key employees.

That’s a jump of almost 20% from just last year.

Translation: With the availability of skilled candidates at a minimum on the job market, many firms are resorting to poaching employees from competitors.
