By now, you’ve probably heard about Marina Shifrin, the woman who made an interpretive dance video to resign from her employer and became a YouTube sensation in the process. Well, her former employer has responded to the viral video with one of its own.

Here’s a brief summary of the Shifrin saga to make sure everyone is up to speed on the back story:

Shifrin gave her official notice through a two-minute dance video set to Kanye West’s “Gone.” In the video, captions that explain her feelings appear along the bottom of the screen while she dances.

One of the captions reads, “For almost two years, I’ve sacrificed my relationships, time and energy for this job. My boss only cares about quantity and how many views each video gets. So I figured I’d make one video of my own.”

The resignation video went viral right away and has garnered nearly 16 million views on YouTube already. It’s also given Shifrin international media attention — and possibly even a job for Queen Latifah’s talk show.

And the company’s rebuttal …

Rather than keeping mum on the subject, Shifrin’s former employer — Next Media Animation — has responded with its own interpretive video. Like Shifrin’s video, the company’s version is set to Kanye West’s “Gone.” It shows employees — and the CEO — dancing while captions let viewers know:

  • about the company’s stand-out perks (a rooftop pool and sauna, along with private bathrooms)
  • why the company does certain things (workers eat lunch at their desks because there aren’t any restaurants around)
  • the company doesn’t hold any ill-will toward Shifrin (a caption wishes the former employee luck), and
  • the company is hiring (an email address flashes across the screen at the end of the video).

While the company’s video hasn’t achieved the same level of fame as Shifrin, the video has garnered nearly five million views already, so chances are the company won’t have much trouble finding interested job applicants. Plus, it was a creative way to showcase some of the company’s unique perks.
