The nation’s biggest retailer is helping to support thousands of non profit jobs throughout Arizona.

The Phoenix Business Journal is reporting that The Walmart Foundation recently donated $495,000 to the Arizona State Giving Program, which will be given to 14 different social services organizations across the state.

The Arizona State Giving Program provides grants to organizations that make positive impacts in local communities. The group focuses on supporting education, workforce development, environmental sustainability, and health and wellness.

Organizations that will receive funding include:

  • Be A Leader Foundation – $75,000
  • Big Brother Big Sisters of Central Arizona – $50,000
  • National Society for American Indian Elderly – $50,000
  • Accept the Challenge – $35,000
  • Matthew’s Crossing (Kidz Café) – $30,000
  • Mission of Mercy – $30,000
  • Assistance League of Tucson – $25,000
  • Back to School Clothing Drive Association – $25,000
  • Banner Health Foundation – $25,000
  • Goodwill Industries of Central Arizona, Inc. – $25,000
  • Phoenix Rescue Mission – $25,000
  • The Wellness Community – $25,000
  • Diocesan Council for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul – $75,000

“The State Giving Program provides an opportunity for Walmart to contribute to nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to making a difference in our state,” Delia Garcia, Walmart senior manager for public affairs and government relations, said in a statement.

The Walmart Foundation donates funds to nonprofit organizations that share the company’s values and mission to create opportunities that allow people to live better.
