This manager’s sexual harassment of four female employees truly ran the gamut — and he and his company eventually had to pay for it.

Spectrum Bags, a Cerritos, CA-based plastic bag manufacturer, agreed to settle a sexual harassment and retaliation case filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for $150,000 recently.

According to the suit, the company’s warehouse supervisor at its Southaven, MS, facility:

  • frequently subjected four women to inappropriate comments, touching, and text messages
  • used his computer to look at adult websites and display pornographic material, and
  • repeatedly asked the women out on dates and invited them to parties and hotels.

Perhaps worst of all, the manager disciplined and even fired women who turned down his advances.

Spectrum Bags, run by IPS Industries, Inc., decided to settle the suit. In addition to the monetary settlement, the company will:

  • conduct anti-harassment training
  • maintain a written policy against sexual harassment
  • make sure that staff members know of the policy, and
  • post in each of its warehouses for two years a notice regarding the terms of this settlement.
